Martin Scorey is a trained boat builder, and has now established himself as a fine sculptor and furniture-maker for his company Shoreline Furniture, which he set up in the late 70's. His beautifully carved objects include fish, whales and birds. He often uses reclaimed timber salvaged from local beaches and docks including huge chunks of groynes and old nautical ephemera resulting in work that is both impressive in terms of scale and presence.
Martin often exhibits his carvings in groups which gives a real sense of movement, either as flocks of birds, shoals of fish or pods of whales. He has won awards for his work and has been featured in several national magazines. He lives in Hampshire, close to the south coast.
