East Anglian based painter Garry Pereira paints atmospheric and extremely intricate seascapes and landscapes. His skillful use of colour and deep knowledge of his subject immediately engages the viewer. The eye is drawn across the delicate markings which form the rippling, living surface of his sea paintings. Before painting a large canvas, Garry will often paint a series of small square studies on location, which are then used as references for the final piece which is painted in his studio.
Garry uses some quite traditional methods, mixing his own oil glazes and washes, giving the work a rather soft and contemplative quality. He is a prolific painter and exhibits regularly in the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States.
