Chris Rhodes has always been interested in working with plastics and currently produces jewellery in resin, using embedding techniques to build up each individual piece, layer by layer. It is not only the working properties of the material which she finds attractive, but its connotations, and the prevailing image of plastic as cheap, disposable and brash. This complements her major interest in popular culture which she aims to explore and celebrate in her work.

‘Found’ items and recycled materials are incorporated into the pieces from many sources and include photographs, charms from Christmas crackers, small toys and coloured foil from chocolates.
