Barry Marshall studied at the Ipswich School of Art in the late 1950’s and then worked as an antique furniture restorer with his father’s firm where his flair for carving developed.
In recent years he has become increasingly interested in sculpting and has held solo exhibitions in East Anglia, venues including the Ipswich Corn Exchange and the Graham & Oldham Artists’ Gallery, Ipswich. Barry's beautifully made forms demonstrate his affinity for the material which he carves - mostly limestone and wood. Many of his sculptures are inspired by various aspects of the sea and some of the creatures and organisms that live in it.
